October 2019 Ex Boluda 1,267 teu pair joins expanding Contships fleet

Two 1,267 teu former Boluda-controlled vessels, the 2007 and 2008 – built VERONICA B. and BEATRIZ B. are to be reactivated after two years of lay up at Vigo.

They have recently joined the expanding fleet of Athens-based Contships Management Inc., which will trade them on the charter market. The ships have been renamed respectively CONTSHIP JET and CONTSHIP ACE.

With these additions, Contships is bringing its fleet of controlled containerships to 38 units, with capacities ranging from 704 to 1,432 teu. All these ships are traded on the charter market.

As for Boluda, the disposal of these two vessels means that all its liner needs are now covered with chartered tonnage only. Boluda Lines connects the Spain mainland and West Africa with the Canary Islands.

The VERONICA B. and BEATRIZ B were built by Spain’s Hijos de Barreras shipyard in Vigo, originally as the RUILOBA and CTE BEATRIZ for now defunct Spanish shipowner and liner operator Naviera del Odiel. They were purchased in 2009 by Spanish liner operator Boluda.

They feature a deadweight of 18,000 tons, an Loa of 159.80 metres and a beam of 24.80 metres.

They are fitted with 170 reefer plugs, and are of gearless configuration.
