Athens-based Contships Management Inc. has recently taken in charge the 1,432 teu INDEPENDENT ACCORD and INDEPENDENT CONCEPT (YZJ 1600), purchased in February 2019 by Contships-related interests from German owners for a price reported to be under USD 7 M each. The vessels have been renamed CONTSHIP RUN and CONTSHIP SEA respectively.
The CONTSHIP RUN has been fixed to Milaha Maritime & Logistics (Qatar Navigation) for a 4-month period for their new ‘Black Sea Express’ service while the CONTSHIP SEA was extended for a 3-5 month period at USD 7,500 to COSCO Shipping for its Piraeus-Black Sea feeder service.
Both ships were built in 2007 by China’s Jiangsu Yangzijiang shipyard. They feature a deadweight of 21,000 tons, an Loa of 168 m and a beam of 25.30 m. They are fitted with 250 reefer plugs and are of gearless configuration.
They belong to the ‘YZJ 1600’ design, of which eight units were built between 2005 and 2007. With this addition, the Contships Management-controlled fleet now consists of 32 container vessels of 704 to 1,432 teu
