Athens-based Contships Management, headed by Greek owner Nikolas D. Pateras, is being linked to the purchase of two 1,345 teu high-reefer ‘MRC 1100’ type container vessels controlled by German owner H Schepers Bereederungs GmbH, the ARIAN and TAMMO. Both vessels fetched a reported price of USD 8.5 M each.
The ARIAN is currently in Rotterdam and is believed to be charter free. As for the TAMMO, she is presently on time charter to CMA CGM and deployed in the Americas. CMA CGM was recently reported to have extended the charter of the ship for 12 months at USD 8,500 per day.
The ARIAN and TAMMO were both built in 2011 by China’s Jiangsu Yangzijiang shipyard.
They feature a deadweight of 17,191 tons, an Loa of 161.30 m and a beam of 25 m. They are equipped with two cranes of 45 tons.
One of the vessels’ principal attractions are their high reefer capacities, featuring 449 plugs for 40 ft reefer containers.
Contships Management was set up in 2015. The company has since expanded significantly and now controls a fleet of 29 small container vessels with capacities ranging from 700 to 1,118 teu. The Contships fleet includes among other vessels, eleven ships of the ‘CV 1100’ type and three units of the ‘Zhejiang 950’ type
